Self-identified Sensitive People

Some people, like me, consider themselves to be “sensitive.” Sensitivity shows up in many ways and may include being attuned to one’s own and others’ emotions, heightened awareness and attention to detail, appreciation or love of the arts with an inclination towards creative expression, and physical sensitivity to sounds, textures, and odors. Sensitivity is a gift. Depending on culture and context, sensitive people are appreciated differently. When sensitivity is judged as a weakness or a character flaw it hinders self-worth and confidence. The misunderstanding of sensitivity does a disservice to us all.
